@anon #57: How is it harsh ? the guy is a chef at a 5 star hotel and he blatantly copied someone's work and claimed it to be his own. If you are caught copying in exams, you are rusticated, so how is this any different ? You are suggesting that it is okay to copy and not face the consequence of your action ??

I learnt when i was in school that every action has an equal and opposite reaction.. and this reaction is totally justified given what this guy did.

[...] Last week, a regular reader of EOiD found the article on Spice Route. It was practically copy-pasted from the EOiD blog, without credit to Hemanshu or EOiD. The reader then took a picture and informed Hemanshu. He posted the story on EOiD and there was an immediate out cry in the Indian twitterverse. With comments going up on EOiD post about the case. Hirak Gautam, the so-called “author” was forced to set up his own Twitter account and reply for his mistake. The excuse? He was on a deadline. A representative from Maxposure also commented on the EOiD post saying, “strict action will be taken on this issue”. The next day, Mail Today published a story on EOiD about the SpiceJet fiasco. According to the article, Hemanshu is demanding compensation and a published apology. You can read more about the story here. [...]

Hello,

I am not here to sympathize with either of the party involved in the controversy and at the same time I reckon that whatever Hirak has done was not ethical on his part.

My only concern while making this comment is to know from Hemanshu Bhai if he tried to resolve this matter with Hirak on a personal level? If not, then exposing the guilty publicly looks a bit harsh treatment to him and could result in someone getting his career screwed up.

Goodness, how infuriating. And to me it seems that Maxposure needs to do more by issuing a note in the SpiceJet mag and any other publication that has used the material from EOID, to clearly mention that the earlier "author" had deliberately misled them, that they are issuing an apology to the actual authors and aim to make sure that submissions from the person who plagiarised will henceforth not be used again.
As for the person who plagiarised, he needs to be blacklisted by publishers. Background research!!!! Utterly shameless.
If you can share the email/ contact address of Maxposurem I would be happy and very much want to write to them on in the iadequacy of their response.
Cheers.
